“…not the first, but the only one among us all”

Our November program was held via Zoom on Saturday, November 8th, at 2 o’clock.

The program was well-attended by many fans of Hungarian literature who joined from  many cities through the technology of Zoom. The program was in Hungarian, and our presenter shared a wealth of information on the life and literary output of one of the most prolific Hungarian authors. Mór Jókai was not only a literary figure, but also a member of the young revolutionaries who supported the Hungarian Revolution of 1848. He was a man of the newsprint as well. His works were translated into many languages at the time, and one topic of discussion was the need to have his works translated once more in order to introduce him to a greater  audience. Details about Jókai’s personal life also added to the presentation, and the PowerPoint presentation had many contemporary images that enhanced the quality of this program. What a wonderful tool Zoom turned out to be, as it has allowed members of the Hungarian Diaspora in Northeast Ohio to hear an outstanding presentation on one of the most famous Hungarian authors!
