Mikes Kelemen Book Collection Program

This Program is sponsored by the Hungarian government for those living outside the borders of Hungary, in conjunction with the Cleveland Hungarian Heritage Society and the cooperation of St. Emeric Church. Its aim is to collect unwanted books, newspapers, printouts (posters, booklets, invitation cards etc.), manuscripts, photos, motion picture- and audio-recordings. In case of photos, motion picture- and audio-recordings, please indicate who, where, when and the occasion featured on them.

HOW TO MAKE A DONATION:

  1. Submit your donations packed into a box. On the box or on a sheet of paper, please indicate your name, address city, state, zip code and an e-mail address or phone number, needed for possible additional information. Please make an inventory, which marks – at least – the number of books included in the box, and place it in the box.
  2. Complete the “Donation Statement” and put the form into the box. See below for Statement.

WHERE TO PUT A DONATION:

  1. Go to St. Emeric’s Church (1860 W. 22nd, close to West Side Market) at the times indicated below. Go into the Church from the right front door. Go up the steps and turn right and walk into the room named Sunday Office. Place the books in the designated area.
  2. Donations should not be left any other place on the grounds of St. Emeric Parish

WHY DONATE

  1. To provide material for future generations
  2. Material might become a valuable historical source
  3. To affect this, the National Széchényi Library and the National Archives of Hungary will look for host institutions based on their professional evaluation.

STATEMENT

I, the Undersigned ……………………..(address:………………………………………………., place and time of birth: ……………………..…..) by signing this statement, that concerning my donation to the Hungarian State in the framework of the Mikes Kelemen Program – including (but not exclusively): material heritage and its elements, books, newspapers, printouts, manuscripts, photos, motion picture- and audio-recordings (altogether: donation) – third parties do not exercise such rights or assert such demands, based on which they would be able to claim the donation, or certain elements of the donation back from the Hungarian State; and irrevocably approve the  utilization of my donation to cultural, educational, scientific and research purposes by the Hungarian State.
