Mr. Hámos has been named the head of the Reconnect Hungary – Hungarian Birthright Program by the Hungarian government. He is nationally known as President of the Hungarian Human Rights Foundation which serves as a clearinghouse of information for Western governments, human rights organizations, the media and the general public.
The program is a way for young Americans of Hungarian descent to “reconnect” to their roots and ancestry. The method to make this happen is a 14 day stay in Hungary. The young person would discover the Hungary of today and see first-hand the “trends, innovations and ingenuity driving Hungary today.” We were happy to see some young people at the program and know that one person at least will be applying for the scholarship this year and another one possibly next year. The program accepts a maximum of 14 students nationally per year.
