It was an uplifting literary afternoon for those of us who were privileged to hear Judit Havas present some of the beautiful poetry of Sándor Kányádi. Our presenter enriched her presentation of Kányádi’s poetry by weaving in highlights of his personal and professional life. Kányádi was a personal friend of Judit Havas, and that impacted her ability to convey his thoughts and memories and impressions when reciting his poetry. Our audience was introduced to the verbal artistry of one of the finest poets to recently paint with the Hungarian language. The selection of poetry was varied in theme and style, giving the audience a good sense of Kányádi’s gift for weaving the Hungarian language into the subtle rhythm of his poetry. We are grateful that Judit Havas visited Cleveland and thus made it possible for the Museum to present such an outstanding Hungarian language program!
