On Saturday afternoon, March 9th, Dr. John Gyékényesi gave a wonderful talk on how soccer developed locally in Cleveland starting in the 1950s. He described how soccer in Ohio became a force in the American soccer arena, and how the game was such a big part of Hungarian recreational life for both youth and adults in Cleveland. Thank you Pali for all the photos, and all the insider details of games, teams, and individuals who made the sport so compelling for so many people!
Pali’s contribution to the development of soccer in the U.S, is extensive, and continues to this day. We had many men attending the program who were players on Pali’s teams, and knew him as a coach and manager… it was a soccer lover’s reunion!
