The second program in our Winter-Spring Lecture Series featured the fascinating topic of the theory of “FLOW” and the related subject of happiness. Dr. Mihály Csikszentmihályi is one of the most respected and well-known psychologists in the world today, and his theory of “flow” has proven to be a ground-breaking theory of human behavior. Our speaker, Dr. Klara Papp, presented a very well organized summary of Dr. Mihály Csikszenymihályi’s biography, the various early life experiences that influenced his interest in human psychology, his seminal research on human optimal performance, which he termed “flow”, and then the various ways we can utilize his theory to achieve personal happiness, and a sense of personal competence. Dr. Papp gave the audience the chance to share various thoughts on the topic, and after her presentation, our guests remained engaged with this topic for a long time.
