We are honored to present as our speaker for our next program,
His Excellency Ambassador Szabolcs Takács, Hungary’s New Ambassador to the United States,
at 2 o’clock, Saturday, March 13th.
The title of his presentation is, An Overview of Hungarian American Relations
This year, 2021, marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the United States and Hungary. Throughout the turbulent history of the 20th century, Hungarians have felt a deep admiration for the American commitment to freedom and democracy. Since the 1956 Hungarian Revolution against Soviet domination, Americans also recognized how deeply Hungarians valued freedom and independence.
Since the fall of Communism in 1989, the two countries’ relationship has grown to include military partnership through NATO, major business investments by U.S. companies in Hungary, as well as extensive cultural and educational exchanges. Ambassador Takács will reflect upon and consider the 100-year relationship between US and Hungary and discussing its strengths and opportunities for further growth and development.
The presentation will be in English.
